Activity: 08.05 - Prepare For Deployment

In this activity, preparation is done for smooth deployment of Release Package into production environment. Deployment schedule is prepared, and relevant training and support documentation are created to support the post release activities.

Once the Release Package is tested and sign-off is obtained, it is now ready to be deployed into production. The Release Manager must create a deployment schedule which has the details of all release roll outs, roles, responsibilities, dependencies, constraints, etc. The Release And Deployment Plan must be updated accordingly. The deployment preparation includes conducting a readiness assessment before a deployment. The deployment preparation activity includes identifying issues and risks with respect to deployment, availability of resources, planning service outages and communication requirement before a deployment. Training requirements with respect to deployment, need to be identified. Training material and a training schedule need to be prepared to cater to these needs.
